Millets has gone downhill hasn't it
minorities are very much not equal under the law! even many Jews aren't equal under the law! the bizarre fusions of Ottoman millets, compromises with the ultra-Orthodox, conquest and occupation, and straight up bigotry have left Israeli law a total mess.
Israeli (apartheid): 75% Jews, 21% Arabs, 4% other minorities (some refugees from the Arab world), all equal under the law.
Arab countries (not apartheid): Jews ethnically cleansed from every one of these countries.
