Saw an opsec guy post that the exploits the bots found were just misconfiguration and not that impressive, and I would have thought opsec people of all people would know that the actual flaws that allow for a hack are almost always trivial oversights.

Really important to note that in no way shape or form did Anthropic’s models in this incident “escape containment,” and not just in the word-policing sort of way. The model stumbled through an open, misconfigured gap. From Anthropic’s incident report:

this was most likely a misconfiguration on the bsky relay side.
we have various rate-limits at the relay. the general limits for the eurosky PDS are high, but an "events per hour" limit was probably triggered.
looking in to better monitoring and limit config to prevent similar problems.

Apologies everyone, we know there was an issue with posts and reactions for 60-90 minutes. Everything was being saved on the PDS so no data was lost. It seems we lost connection to the Bluesky downstream app, we’re investigating the reason.
