Some folks claim that mRNA vaccines are unsafe, alter DNA, lower fertility, and lead to immune disorders and cancer. These claims are simply untrue. Hundreds of studies have shown COVID-19 vaccines are safe and help protect against severe COVID-19 disease.

Happy #MisinformationMonday! Today's topic: new vaccines. A new Lyme disease vaccine is sparking false claims online, including that it is unsafe, that mRNA vaccines are unsafe, and even that tick counts have increased because the vaccine maker released boxes of ticks into the wild to create demand.

It's #MisinformationMonday, the day we tackle false or misleading claims about vaccines! Today's claim is that the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine causes measles. This is misleading and stems from the vaccine's insert which lists "atypical measles" as a side effect.

The truth is, it is not scientifically possible for the COVID vaccine to cause hantavirus. Hantavirus is an entirely different virus from COVID and no part of any hantavirus strains were used to make COVID vaccines.

When people claim that a vaccine has caused "x" number of deaths, this number is often from VAERS. But again, it is not accurate to count every, or even the majority, of VAERS-reported deaths as related to a vaccine.
