It's true that Mizrachi Jews have claim to ME food. But so does anyone who grows up or moves to Israel. It's the food that people eat there.
I make a lighthearted joke about Ashkenazi food, and my mentions are full of people saying, “Evil Jews stole Palestinian cuisine,” totally erasing that most Israeli Jews are Mizrahi, not Ashkenazi, and have just as much claim to Middle Eastern food as any other Middle Easterner.
Israel has bad bagels because bagels are an Ashkenazi diaspora food. The place to go for bagels will always be New York or Montreal. Israel has plenty of good food but Israeli food and Jewish food are not and will never be synonymous.

That’s so wrong it’s painful. 20% of Israelis are Muslim and Christian Arabs. 60% of Jews are Mizrachi or brown. I’ve lived there. You haven’t. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
