The stupid horrible dumb hateful FDA hasn't approved a new SPF filter in 20 years, but international ones have been slipping through because nobody bothered to enforce the rules, but the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA) is making it financially prohibitive with fines.

I have a korean sunscreen/moisturizer I love, but MOCRA is kicking in so they all have to change their formulas to sell in the US and it's just not as good.

The FDA has withdrawn its proposed rule to require asbestos testing in talc-based cosmetics. Asbestos is a known carcinogen commonly found in talc. This decision undermines MoCRA and delays protections.

Actually until MoCRA there was never any FDA regulation for scent in the US (which only classified scents with toys as cosmetics) The US is decades behind most 1st world countries in terms of regulation so we instead stick to IFRA and RIFM monographs when formulating our products.
