Hardcore Apple //e composers rocked a Mockingboard which endowed the computer with three independent square wave voices. Music Construction Set allowed drag and drop of music notes on a staff.

I was planning on sticking a Mockingboard 4C+ in here but both won’t fit. Now I’m conflicted. This is //c Plus which needs to run underclocked for games to work, so maybe I keep the ram card here for drawing programs and GUI OS stuff and put the Mockingboard in a standard //c?

I'm not super familiar with the Mockingboard but doesn't it use AY-3-8910 chips for sound generation? (And a pair of 6522s) A IIc version is nifty though!!!

I got a IIc and a Mockingboard specifically for the Ultima game support. As a kid I had fantasies about being so wealthy I could utilize the “Activate Music” menu options.

Digidream is a music demo released in 2020 for Apple IIe and IIc with the 1983 Mockingboard sound card.

It replays an Atari ST tune by Jess/OVR featuring a digital drum sound, using two interrupts and almost 100% CPU time.
