Having lived under it, I think the comp is modi. The comp has always been modi. Thats who Trump really aspires to be.
The problem with studying political violence for a living is that I can imagine far darker scenarios than Orban's Hungary. America's own history suggests a greater reliance on coercion and violence. Orban's Hungary might be the ceiling, not the floor, of Trump's America
The Orban model (which Trump explicitly embraces) is exactly what we have to guard against

Apparently the final straw alienating Modi was Trump going on and on about how great Pakistan (India's biggest enemy) was for nominating Trump for a Nobel, and how Modi should do the same. Trump ignored Modi when he pointed out that Trump had nothing to do with the ceasefire he claimed credit for.
