I believe the Mohawk's reconnaissance mission was taken over by the King Air.

Argentina and Israel bought the aircraft too.

It's #MohawkMonday on the calendar, so here's a video.

The OV-1 was as ugly as a bug, but it looks like it was a blast to fly before things like minimum altitudes were invented. youtu.be/nwSUXpvFh14?...

The Mohawk had pretty respectable short field capabilities; it only needed 800ft of unimproved runway, and could carry rockets and gun pods as well as sensor apparatus.

Grumman built the Mohawk at the dawn of the "joint-service weapons systems" era.

The search was for an observation aircraft.

The Army and Marine Corps were involved in the design, and the Navy wanted a spotter able to fly from small-deck aircraft carriers (possibly amphibs?).

The Marines eventually wound up with the North American (Rockwell?) OV-10 Bronco, in a similar role to the Army's, as did the Navy and the Air Force.

The Bronco and Mohawk were retired in the early 90s.
