I wish someone would do a taste test of the monardas and pycnanthemums for flavor notes, because some of them seem
like perfectly good substitutions for european herbs.
I know I tried a monarda that tasted
like basil when I lived in the mountains.

Well, I did not WANT to separate all the plants into Districts based on species and shape, but all of the specialty scrub natives are getting bodied by regular monarda, so now I have to be mean and do this. Thanks plants.

Literally today I moved like six monarda away from "hardy mistflower" because the latter are barely making it

I have purchased some Fancy Iris (var Dutch iris red ember) that I hope I remember to tag @kbspangler.com with in spring once they bloom.
Also bought: allium var Graceful Beauty to go near the blueberries. Astrantia var Star of Love to scratch my monarda itch (monarda is invasive here)

maaaaaan there's a family of them that camps in my yard every year right by the Monarda patch and the first time Big Poppa buzzed me I hit the ground because that was the "biggest freaking bee" I ever heard 🤣 looking up I finally saw him flitting around. Too close to flowers = GO AWAY strafing runs!

I LOVE how this geranium just doesn’t give a fuck: it’s grown 3 feet up to cover my monarda stems and just blooms non-stop.
