#Monoclonius lowei (CMN 8790) in the field at Manyberries, Alberta. David Evans and I relocated the quarry in 2017.

3) Made with go-motion, Phil Tippett's Prehistoric Beast is a dialogue/narration-free glimpse into the late Cretaceous that sees a "Monoclonius" stalked and eventually attacked by a Tyrannosaurus Rex. With atmosphere to spare, it remains one of the best dinosaur films of all time.

Hey we should just start calling dinosaurs by their Chinese names cuz they're pretty badass. Like:

I've loved Centrosaurus since seeing Phil Tippet's Prehistoric Beast

It was the first dinosaur I ever sculpted with Sculpey, way back in 2001.

I lovingly named it Mono, because I had mono at the time I made it, and Monoclonius is a dubious genus likely the same a Centrosaurus.

--I learned that flowering plants weren't abundant until the Cretaceous. Back then, large sauropods were thought to be heavy and awkward, so much so that they required water to support their bodies. We don't think that now, of course, but--

This is painful to admit, but I think we're both wrong. It's derived from Latin for Day of Monoclonius Excrement

The iconic residents of the Saurian Archipelago;
The behemoth apex predator, Manospondylus, towering above the highlands with a massive boney crest. It is thought to be a descedant of Guanlong!
The hulking ceratopsian, Monoclonius, armed with a massive middle horn capable of piercing tough hide.

They did a Centrosaurus the previous wave in the DR monoclonius colors, and this last time they went full on with battle armor for the animals, making an Ice Age Smilodon DR color exclusive!

These were my favorite toys as a kid. I'm actually currently painting an Acheson Centrosaurus in the colors of the Dino Riders Monoclonius toy.
