#MonopoliZation
Your Black Friday reminder that in 75% of U.S. industries, a smaller number of companies now control more of the business than they did twenty years ago. We must stop the monopolization of America. Shop small if you can, please.

The vicious cycle of monopolization:

1) Corporations argue that their growth is just part of the free market.
2) Use their monopoly power to gouge consumers.
3) Take a portion of their profits to make political donations.
4) Lobby against antitrust enforcement.
5) Repeat.

Norfolk Southern & Union Pacific announced a merger yesterday.

If approved, the combined railway giant would control 40% of rail freight in the US.

In 75% of US industries, fewer companies control more of the business than 20 years ago.

The monopolization of America continues.

Collaboration >>>>>>>>>> Monopolization

Hope this helps.

Life-saving drugs should be accessible, not grossly overpriced just to explode unjust profits. It's time to end the practice of these extreme price hikes and the unjust corporate concentration and market monopolization that makes it possible.

We need fair competition and just pricing.

The monopolization of our entertainment media is actually insane

A gust of wind in isolation does not mean capitalism doesn’t concentrate wealth and lead to monopolization and imperialism

2) Use their monopoly power to price gouge consumers and shaft workers.

3) Use profits to make political donations.

4) Lobby against antitrust enforcement.

Investigations are ongoing but just four corporations control 54% of the fresh-cut salad industry, including Taylor Fresh Foods.

Market concentration —> more pricing power —> higher profits —> more spending on lobbying and campaign donations —> more deregulation

See the dangers of monopolization?
Taylor Farms, the lettuce supplier at the center of our explosive diarrhea outbreak, has spent millions to oppose food regulation and elect Donald Trump and other MAGA Republicans:
Taylor Farms Spent Big on MAGA and Anti-Regulatory Lobbying Before Diarrhea Outbreak
The company donated more than $3.6 million to conservative groups between 2020 and 2025, including $1 million to the MAGA Inc. super PAC.

They call it consolidation. It’s actually monopolization.

if, for example, your theory is that this turn is a natural reaction to the monopolization of the economy, then why did this only take place among white and not black residents of rural counties?

Capitalist competition: requires poverty, pits everyone against each other, leads to monopolization, planned obsolescence

Socialist competition: competing for higher quality of life for all, allows for reducing working hours w efficiency, workers not competing w one another can share knowledge

Why isn't this monopolization violating the Sherman anti-trust act? Don't get it.

So many businesses thrive on artificial scarcity and monopolization :^)

If you want to end monopoly, you must want to end capitalism. You cannot have capitalism without its tendencies towards monopolization and concentration of wealth. It is a fantasy that has never existed.

I noticed this first when I was working at (now defunct) DSLReports, where I'd see the obvious impact of corruption-coddled monopolization resulting in patchy, expensive, shitty service.

When I'd read press coverage of the "digital divide," monopolization and corruption were just...not mentioned.

That's especially true in the food industry.

Just four corporations control 54% of the fresh-cut salad industry, including Taylor Fresh Foods.

We're seeing in real time the danger of monopolization.

So much anger clouds the judgement of people.

The billionaires keep us angry with their monopolization of news media.

There use to be laws against monopolies.

Now—due to the monopolization of posting—furtive and problematic drug use, posing as your older female relative for years, and joke theft are all consolidated under one person
