First frankenbike nonsense for ‘26. Monstercross gravel conversion of a 2002 Kona frame I’d sent up to my parents a while ago. I messed up and left the derailleur hanger in Christchurch. Quite crucial it turns out.
Planning to use this to ride from Auckland to Waihi later in the year.

thanks! the 3D print has a very cute flexture designed in to expand and lock it in place as you tighten the bell, and the bike is a Black Mountain Cycles Monstercross.

Vihdoinkin pääsin koeajamaan Kona Muni-Mulaa työmatkalla. Vielä on ajoasennossa säätämistä, kun ajaessa tuli mieleen Kummelin MC Prostata - sketsi. Eiköhän se siitä kohene, toistaiseksi kaikki säädöt on vielä aika lailla tyyliä "pulttaa kiinni". #pyöräily

The compromise is gearing. Great up/down hill, not so good on the flat.

I'm six-foot-six and 265 pounds with disproportionately long legs; I couldn't find any factory road bikes that fit me well. I had a custom steel monstercross frame built by Jeremy Sycip and dressed it with carbon wheels, a GRX 12-speed gravel groupset, and fancy cranks and such for less than £7,000.

I had a custom steel monstercross frame built by Jeremy Sycip and dressed it with carbon wheels, a GRX 12-speed gravel groupset, and fancy cranks and such for less than £7,000.
DT makes good rims in 700, and Velocity in many sizes. 26”/559 in particular are much harder to find than they used to be. I’m very happy with the DT 460s on my Black Mountain Monstercross.

I have a steel monstercross* frame I built with Dave Yates that is my steel for life bike. The road bike will be a ridiculous treat.
