In the past I’ve always treated sand dollars as precious and beautiful only when they’re unbroken. After yesterday’s outing, however, I’m finding the broken fragments even more beautiful. I don’t yet know how I’ll use them in the #MonsterPictureBook, but I definitely will

Ugh, ideas for the picture book AFTER the #MonsterPictureBook are pouring into my head, probably because I have less time to work on any books at all than I've had since the kids were tiny babies, but I'll get to it eventually, I'LL GET TO YOU EVENTUALLY, #ROBOTPICTUREBOOK

Today was my first visit to the L.A. County Museum of Art in years, and it’s a totally different experience going there now that I’m trying to make art professionally once again. This Archipenko drawing is one of the pieces that struck the biggest creative sparks in my mind #MonsterPictureBook

What if I actually have the skills needed to turn STEVEN into a real picture book and reinvent myself as a writer AND an artist, a genuine kidlit author/illustrator? What then? Well. I think what happens then might be...good. Maybe even great. Letting myself dream big #MonsterPictureBook

I haven’t really looked at Steven’s tree in a while, but I spent most of the afternoon rearranging the ol’ workspace, relocating the tree in the process, and it’s a relief that I still think it’s pretty #MonsterPictureBook

Working on STEVEN was not my top priority at this year's Highlights Asian & Asian American Voices Retreat, but I did manage to give him a pair of costume wings, which is metaphorically apropos, considering how attending the retreat made me feel. #MonsterPictureBook
