I still have some appendices to pick through but overall my take here is much the same as on Mordew (duh… but in totally different directions): loved and really respected what the book was doing on the macro level, found much of what it was doing on a micro level not to my interest at all.

Let's say a person wanted to avoid other essays they were writing and started thinking about the current wave of New Weird descendants. Mordew, The Works of Vermin, Dawnhounds, the Tyrant Philosophers, City of Glass, what else? Maybe the Locked Tomb. Weird fiction in secondary cities, what've we got

I am begging folks to read Alex Pheby's 'Cities of the Weft' books. 'Mordew' is great, and 'Malarkoi' is proving its equal.
