There's two core relationship webs here. Schloss and Morvin are true companions, though that's less apparent from an outside perspective. Highmarsh trying to assert himself as the one who truly understands Morvin is a key signifier of how far off the mark of truth he is.

It's the right pitch for the room. Most of the Inquisition side with Aster. Morvin anticipated this, and brought along some of Eve Mott's friends to even the odds, but this turns into a brawl between their side and Aster's followers; Morvin and Saint Sapphire going one vs one atop the lighthouse.

Aster figured that was fine for this fight - they're in a confined area, Morvin was already denied a mobility advantage, even more raw power was the play... but Morvin's double jump lets her face him effectively over the edge of the lighthouse.
It's stupidly risky. But it's an edge for Morvin.

Inquisitor Aster Highmarsh is more an outlier. He's on the same case, working the high society angle while Morvin and Schloss are looking into the lowborn. He's kinda a distant ally to the two, particularly Morvin; enjoying a chance to fight alongside her or compare notes on the case.

Aster's aware of it - that's why the lighthouse is his escape route. Morvin and Schloss investigated it as a potential monster den, and while they don't pick up on the magical function, they'll hear the myth and Morvin can work back to deduce why Aster's gone there. Not evidence but good to know.

Next, it's an adventure with Inquisitor Morvin Reese investigating a fantasy small town murder. This was my #MythAugust WiP. I have some things firmly in mind, but the book is not fully plotted. I have some arcs, a rough climax, but it needs work before I continue.
