Back home after 3 days of filling gaps in records from 8 tetrads in North Aberdeenshire north of Huntly. New sites for alpine bistort, lesser tussock-sedge and moschatel (surprisingly late in the season). Also three-nerved sandwort with a pleasingly symmetrical leaf arrangement.

Very interesting. I did not know that Moschatel was related to Elder, you learn something new every day!

Hard shield-fern and rough horsetail found on a walk in glorious sunshine by the River Dee in South Aberdeenshire, between Kincardine O'Neil and Potarch. Both recorded just once before in hectad NO59, the fern unlocalised, the horsetail elsewhere. Plus a large patch of moschatel, a hectad first.

Moschatel (Adoxa moschatellina) growing in the Rivelin Valley, #Sheffield. This tiny plant is also known as Town Hall Clock due to the shape its flowerheads. It was first discovered at this location by Gerry Firkins.

I checked another site (beside the Water of Leith in Slateford, Edinburgh) yesterday but I found the area totally covered in Few-flowered Leek. Not sure the tiny Moschatel can survive.

Local chalk woods looking just fine at the moment. Early Dog-violet Viola reichenbachiana var. leucantha, Woodruff Galium odoratum, and Moschatel Adoxa moschatellina. Mid Hampshire today. @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Is there a more exquisite woodland plant than Moschatel? I'm not sure there is. It's a species I don't see all that often and so it was a nice bonus to see such swathes of it at #RSPB Mersehead

Is there a more exquisite woodland plant than Moschatel? I'm not sure there is. It's a species I don't see all that often and so it was a nice bonus to see such swathes of it at #RSPB Mersehead
