Seriously, there should be a hard rule that when a group is ahead of the peloton within the last 2km, camera motorbikes are not allowed to ride in front of either group. They have to film from behind.

Side note: I looked up cycling speed world records a while ago and was pretty stunned by the speeds that they can reach with motorpacing. The record is close to 300km/h.
It is held by a woman, which I love and which leads to the rare case where there is a seperate "male" record that's not as fast.

No the human powered speed record was not set via motorpacing. It is done in Battle Mountain, NV and is all human powered, no aids.

When I hit that flow state—the closest I come to it outside of racing—I feel like I’m racing the wind. I feel it occasionally on my head, encouraging me to tuck in and learn ways to ride aerodynamically as I hide in the pocket of swirling air left behind him
