Gonna be so real, I tried doing this today. Its exactly as shameful and divine as they make it out to be.

Does background="transparent" also change the rendering style of gpt-image-2?
MrRobert: > 2. In the playground I see both “gpt-image-2” and “gpt-image-2-2026-04-21” > listed. Does the unversioned alias currently point to a newer snapshot? > They are the same model. The short name is just an alias, a pointer to the actual AI model. There must be a destination of the alias, and in this case, there is only one possibility. The only image model that is not an alias pinned to an underlying snapshot model that is exposed to you is `chatgpt-image-latest`, which is in fact the gpt-image-1.5 family (which ChatGPT has generally left behind). Deprecated. The internal prompting or post-training is changed on you with “background”:“transparent”, promoting places to use the transparency then available. The same prompt can yield transparency with the API option, evidence of this change.

David Foster is getting a promotional push from @timescolonist.bsky.social lately. Here's something I wrote years ago for another newspaper after I suffered a love-hurts moment.

#TGIF This weekend used to be 'civic' and I wonder if that term still applies. If you never took civics in high school, then at least to your neighbours be civil. 🥰🤪
