#Multipath
the running gag around the office is "multipath will fix this", so we wrote a blog post about what the heck multipath is & why it's going to make everything better: www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-on...

Industry reacted quickly.

From lossy packet delivery to reliable multipath spraying: Multipath Reliable Connection (MRC) turns many "Issues at Hyperscale" into engineering solutions.

No better feeling in open source: when your OSS project upstreams an improvement to another OSS project (which in this case has nearly 200k repos depending on it)

At https://github.com/n0-computer we are working on implementing multipath in quinn. Multipath requires a few changes in the nonce calculation for packet protection (described in section 4.1). This...

This is hilarious. That last one hurt, though. I bet the multipath was very interesting. ⚒️🧪

We've said "multipath will fix this" *waaay* to often internally.
Perhaps we've also asked ourselves "would multipath fix this?" too often.
Anyhow. We're working on it, we're determined to ship something eventually, and hopefully land it in upstream quinn.

Over the last two years we spent tons of effort into writing a #rust QUIC multipath & NAT traversal implementation.
Beyond iroh, we're now ready to share it as a building block for others to use!

Has anyone else noticed this perma-puddle on Trinity Path? Edinburgh. As far as i remember, there has always been a wee burn to the edge of the path, with a puddle after rain. But these days the water feature is always there -even in drought times. @spokes.org.uk ?

today we do TCP over multipath-QUIC but since I don't trust the random project I found that wants to run C code as root on my mac+my router, I'm having agents rewrite it in Rust and.. the *basic idea* works! just needs a TUN now.

My main branch now has holepunching implemented *inside* the QUIC stack. We've implemented the QUIC multipath draft to keep track of all the paths inside the QUIC networking stack.
CI is green and we've already punched a lots of firewalls in the real world!
