"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." —MLK Jr.

NOTE this is "Trump's War on Iran." Not "with" - that implies mutuality. And not simply "war" nor "attack."

Transaction doesn't build trust.

But mutuality-- the foundation of gift economy-- absolutely does.

Find community (even just your neighbor down the hall), find ways to practice mutuality.

Build trust. Build relationships.

Organize.

It takes time. But if we do that work, ultimately we will win.

Building coalition with others so we can survive under fascism in mutuality together.
So what is everybody doing with their last few months of democracy? I’m thinking of taking up woodworking, or maybe metallurgy. When I am a bandit/pirate sailing the high seas in search of my next plunder, these skills will surely come in handy.

Also, calling it "war" implies a mutuality that does not exist. It's an invasion and kidnapping.

It's feminized, in the sense of feminized labor: unglamorous, invisible, grounded in mutuality and voluntary give and take rather than command and subordination.

There's not much credit to be had.

kindness & tolerance are reciprocal. if you reject mutuality then you opt-out of the social contract.

rugged individualism is a very lonely ideology to choose.

Leftists can’t defeat the old establishment — let alone overcome the Right — on their own. And mutuality cuts both ways: we can’t ally with liberals only when we’re in the lead

I do however endorse the mutuality of met needs 😌

They’re also not mentally equipped for interactions that require mutuality and consent

They’re used to just doing shit and fuck anyone who complains

Thought-provoking thread and comments about caring for each other and mutuality
If I could name one consistent feature of people who end up having miserly, paranoid, counterproductive politics, it would be this—the attitude that care should flow TOWARD you but not FROM you.

Yeah, I’ve liked this example because of how it juxtaposes technological “progress” against the very basic unit of social cooperation and mutuality i.e. gratitude.
These *brilliant* tech oligarchs built a massive energy wasting system, just by telling the system, "Please" and "Thanks".

-- MLK Jr., "Letter from a Birmingham Jail"
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

The people who are so strongly into AI are really, it seems, against *reciprocity* - which is the bedrock on which human relationships and human societies are based. Reciprocity takes work. Favours incur social obligations. Care gives rise to and requires mutuality, presence, community, effort.

Signing off to this wretched world for today...how I wish I could wake to a world of decency, kindness, and mutuality. Take care, all of you.

Nothing can or will finally end your responsibility to care about other people. Nothing makes mutuality dispensable. Expecting one-sided responsibility is a path to morally hazardous self-justification and unresolved bitterness.
