intentionally chose that method because i want to be able to have an archive of my roms so i dont have to rely on downloading them again (rip myrient, vimms is my only hope) but also will eventually clone this drive as well and set up a NAS

The minerva-myrient retroachievement set is the best one to download; it's got some duplicates (USA+Europe) but it gets you 95% of the way to a complete collection of the best games. They added Wii after Myrient went down though you gotta put that one together yourself.

i am playing eng beach on my ipad but i fear that same problem there soon. my PC is out of storage basically bc of myrient shutdown and i never got an SD card for my 3DS so they are all sitting on PC. i am so sorry my phone never gave me notification bc it hardly works due to said storage problem 😭

retro achievements are kinda cringe sure but myrient has pre-patched translations because of them so it's not All Bad i think

ProTip: The latest versions of chdman.exe creates .chd files that use cdzs compression, but the Playstation cores for libretro that come with Batocera (PCSX, mednafen, and Swanstation) don't support it and instead require lzma, cdlz, cdfl, or cdzl compression. cdzs only saves a few megabytes per CD.

Myrient was the closest, but it shut down earlier this year. Best bet now is to search for other places that host roms.
