oh, this is interesting to me! Anti-norman resistance is strange because it seems like the pro Anglo-Saxon crowd is, starting in the 19th century(?) almost exclusively horrendous people, who then go back in time and mythmake about the noble resistance to norman conquest.

i think in particular it can be fun to analyze why something works in an existing work if you wanna copy it but like my thoughts earlier it's too easy to mythmake and be like "IT WAS ALL PART OF THIS PERFECT CRYSTALLINE IDEA CONCEIVED FROM THE START" and lbr i can't think of a work where thats true

There was a time when only a few people understood computers at all, & only nerds with chips on our shoulders did CS, so it was easy to mythmake about special insight. Some of those nerds became very rich, received 2 decades of uncritical press to platform the myths, & the whole field got brainrot.

I do think a bunch of it is so they can mythmake around cops being super smart, because they have to be to stop the supersmart evil. AND YET.

Me yesterday: we need to critically reexamine the beloved historical fiction media of our childhood
Me today on the wiki for garlemald trying to see if they have any events they could mythmake into a Hamilton-like opera subversively starring all the founders as bozjans: these r all atrocities. Wait-

This is really good and helps clear up a lot of cognitive dissonance I had about my understanding of history re: WW2, Nazis, the US, and how we mythmake around those things.

We haven't actually gotten that far away from any of this.

Obviously all parties mythmake, but I always find Labour's '1945: rebuilt, 1997: rebuilt, 1964: remember that speech he gave in opposition that led to absolutely nothing of note in office?' shtick very amusing.

Have that point all you want. My greater focus is that I've been in the company of the perverts you mythmake about and they also think you're a fuckin creepazoid who shouldn't be allowed near a grade school
