Westerners do not understand how insane pobedobesie is. If they did, they would not be encouraging it, even to embarrass their own national mythmakers.

It was natural enough that hagiographic mythmakers invented outlandish tales of General Skywalker's childhood, just as it was natural that later mythmakers, sympathetic to the Jedi Order, demonized him through conflation with the Vader-legend, but the resulting figure is a grotesque improbability.

I was laughing, overwhelmed suddenly by the panicked knowledge that I understood nothing. How could I possibly hope to describe the lives of others?

my conspiracy theory is that erkia kirk is gonna announce she’s pregnant with charlie’s kid at some point in the near future when the reality is vance pumped one in after he got a neck piercing because they’re both eugenicist mythmakers
So will he was definitely doing adultery with Erika Kirk while he has a 7 month old baby at home

I know people who have followed the rules of “what you’re supposed to do” to a much finer letter than we in the “art isn’t a real job” category: decades-long boomer-approved “respectable” careers, no financial risks, and STILL feel hopelessly stuck. This economy/society only works for its mythmakers
this is why I got so volatile talking about the meritocratic myth successful people spout all the time. what about folks who do everything we're all told to do: got the education, dedicated years to work and/or family, took chances, learned from failures & setbacks, but still can't just survive?
Ugh

Just explained to someone today I'm in emergency mode and self care is 4th behind 3 things I have no choice but to put ahead of me to survive.

I see a way out, but it seems no matter how hard I work, it's always just at the horizon, never closer.

Berlie Doherty and I had a great time chatting to Julia Golding from Oxford Centre for Fantasy, for podcast, Mythmakers.

Listen to us chatting about story origins, the writers and illustrators who inspired us, and how The Seamaiden's Odyssey was created.
