اضطرت طائرة تابعة لشركة "دلتا إيرلاينز" كانت متجهة إلى أتلانتا، إلى الهبوط اضطراريًا في مطار لوس أنجلوس الدولي (LAX)، بعد اندلاع حريق في أحد محركاتها بعد وقت قصير من الإقلاع. الرحلة رقم DL446، والتي كانت تُسيّر باستخدام طائرة من طراز بوينغ 767-400 (رقم التسجيل N836MH)، غادرت المطار قبل أن تُرصد ألسنة لهب تنبعث من المحرك الأيسر للطائرة. وسجلت مقاطع فيديو التُقطت من الأرض مشاهد للحريق أثناء تحليق الطائرة فوق جنوب لوس أنجلوس، قبل أن تعود وتهبط بسلام في مطار لوس أنجلوس. ولم تُسجل أي إصابات في الحادث. وقد استقبلت فرق الإطفاء الطائرة على المدرج، وأكدت أنه تم إخماد النيران.
