Yes, battery electric semi trucks can work perfectly fine carrying full loads (50K+ lbs) and going hundreds of miles a day. Sure certain very long routes favor internal combustion, but that's only a portion of what trucks are doing with transport.

Facts over misinformation: "Battery electric trucks can go the distance." NACFE tracked 13 to fleets prove it. But industry lobbyists keep pushing outlier scenarios to protect diesel while data shows most trucks run <500 mi/day, well within electric range.

And they're so irrelevant they're not even in studies supporting electric Semis as they're on very minuscule, predefined routes, vs actual, widely selling, globally competitive electric Semis handling all sorts of routes.

Support CleanTechnica's work through a Substack subscription or on Stripe. The United States North American Council for Freight Efficiency’s (NACFE) Run on Less is underway again, and the lineup is broad. Battery electrics are sharing the road with renewable diesel tractors, natural gas trucks, and a pair of hydrogen fuel cell units. That variety is interesting because it reflects the choices fleets are actually making.
