My favorite was when I was in grad school in Boulder around 1977, a Chinook blew the anemometer at NCAR away. Last reading was something like 100 mph.

- NWS layoffs hit short-staffed offices
- Reduced weather balloons directly affect forecasts
- Shutdown of NCAR as political retribution
- Funding/data cuts to next-gen satellites
- International weather observations blocked
