So yesterday was my last day of my OSHA/NCCER course and I am now certified in both. It was 7 weeks of woodworking, note taking, and realizing I'm so much better at these things than I thought. I'm incredibly proud of myself. And I'm also a babe.

Literally, if you want to get your apprenticeship, or free CNC, NCCER, OSHA 30, CDL Class A, etc, I can send you programs desperate to enroll people and pay a stipend. People don't want to enroll because they don't want these jobs.

Noting that 92 percent of contractors report they are having a hard time filling open positions, construction officials called for more funding for construction education and new, lawful ways for people to enter the country to work in the industry. “As the survey results show, construction workforce shortages aren’t just a problem for the construction industry,” said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist, during a virtual media briefing to release the results. “Construction projects of all types are being delayed because there aren’t enough qualified workers available for firms to hire.” The association noted that 92 percent of construction firms that are hiring report having a hard time finding qualified workers. As a result, 88 percent of firms report having openings for craft construction workers, while four-fifths of firms have openings for salaried workers. One reason it is so difficult to find people is because federal officials have failed to properly invest in construction workforce training and education. Simonson noted that the survey responses highlight the impacts of these investment shortfalls.
