Current understanding of the #rasuwa disaster shows a very large rock avalanche released from the valley north of #Langtang-Lirung. Parts of a #glacier were involved in the failure, likely contributing large amounts of water, though other water sources undoubtedly contributed.

Nepal-China Border Landslide Linked to Devastating Bhote Koshi River Flood
A preliminary study by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) suggests an ice-rock landslide near the Nepal-China border may have triggered the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi River. Satellite imagery indicates the landslide sent debris into the Lhende Khola, which flows into the Bhote Koshi, causing widespread destruction downstream. The flood also impacted China's Tibet region, affecting the Gyirong port and trade routes.

Agencia NA
