This was one of the best talks I've heard so far this year. Super interesting and relevant stuff from Mirta Galesic and @sfiscience.bsky.social. The applications of this work could be profound in the years to come as we try to understand increasing human mobility and interconnection. #NERCCS2025
#NERCCS2025 started with BU President Harvey Stenger's opening remarks followed by Mirta Galesic's keynote talk

Closing with a flourish, David Sloan shares with us an inspiring unifying vision between the paradigm of complex systems in its different adaptive and evolutionary facets. We definitely need a synthesis, which will lead us to a new understanding of collectivity.

April 11, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Closing the afternoon #complexnetworks session, Akshay Ganadhar discusses how to use network centrality as a benchmark to characterize high-relevant papers in scientific literature.
#NERCCS2025
April 11, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Now Saiful Islam tells us about his work on using #multilayernetworks to capture complex interactions between gene communities that co-express each other.

April 11, 2025 at 6:04 PM
Starting the last session of the whole #NERCCS2025 we had Nelson Fernández talking about how to use analytics in order to characterize performance metrics in soccer. ⚽
April 11, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Our second keynote speaker today is Joaquín Goñi, who gave a wonderful talk on how to measure functional connectivity based on differential geometry. His results are useful for the identification and reconfiguration of brain modules.

April 11, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Arriving late to #NERCCS2025 due to an exam, but now closing the morning #complexnetworks session we had Ziqi Guo discussing her approach to integrating social media data, knowledge graphs and network sparsification with application to epilepsy monitoring.
April 11, 2025 at 3:20 PM
Our final speaker on the second day of #NERCCS2025 is Jeremy Blackburn, who gave us a historical overview of the Internet, followed by his methodology for tracking radical communities on social media that turn out to be relevant to real social events.
April 10, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Closing the last session of the day, @skojaku.bsky.social discussed a new methodology to visualize the evolution of ideas based on spatial representation. His advances give us insights on the relationship between embedding distance and flux, which follows an inverse power law.

April 10, 2025 at 7:48 PM
We just had Kaj Hansteen Izora, who by means of a board game, is currently exploring the usage of Large Language Models to simulate social group dynamics. His model shows interesting emergent properties from the agents, such as adaptability.
#NERCCS2025
April 10, 2025 at 7:24 PM
Continuing the #AI and Society session, Danushka Bandara explains how to use brain activity data to classify human trust in artificial intelligence. His results can help us to build a reliable measure of trust can lead to better AI systems.
#NERCCS2025
April 10, 2025 at 7:02 PM
Now kicking off the second parallel session of the day we had Akshay Ganadhar talking about how to use #adaptivenetworks to explore the unpredictability of opinion trajectories.
#NERCCS2025
April 10, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Our second keynote speaker at #NERCCS2025 was Réka Albert! She introduced us to the art of Boolean modeling, with a clear emphasis on biological systems. Despite its simplicity, Boolean networks result effective when capturing robustness and adaptability of real organisms. 🦠
April 10, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Closing this session we had Ali Nasirzonouzi, who discussed an agent based model he developed with application to enhance message credibility and consumer engagement.

April 10, 2025 at 4:00 PM
We just had another great talk by Malak Fora, who explained to us how to use video-based cross recurrence quantification analysis in order to predict interpersonal perception in face-to-face human communication.
#NERCCS2025
April 10, 2025 at 3:44 PM
Daniel Graham just gave a great talk on how to measure the survivability of messages into a network where communication is based on collision. His results indicate that effect of node degree on message survival depends on assortativity.
#NERCCS2025
April 10, 2025 at 3:18 PM
Now Haoyang Qian shows us a model to predict #infodemia: the propagation of misinformation in social networks. Her results show that topology plays a relevant role in the propagation process, giving rise to polarization and depolarization cycles.
#NERCCS2025
April 10, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Markus Hofer opened the session dedicated to communication in social systems by using theoretical tools to characterize polarization as a phase transition. His results tell us that the more interactions, the more polarization we will have. 🔵🔴
