I've dabbled in astro imaging - the levels of technical fucking around and patience are order of magnitude higher than any other form of photography. Managed to get this of the Orion nebula - one of the easiest targets - but honestly don't think I have patience to repeat process flic.kr/p/2n6NZxN

M42, M43 y NGC1975 en Orión, fotografiadas desde Australia hace unos minutos.
Fotografía en blanco y negro de la nebulosa. Se compone de dos gigantescas masas de gas. La superior cuatro veces mayor en tamaño, es más brillante que la otra sobre todo en la parte de abajo. Por arriba se abre como un águila empezando a extender sus alas, en un dramático despliegue de texturas vaporosas. Cientos de estrellas de distintos tamaños se reparten por todo el paisaje, mezclándose con los hilos de gas, dándole una profundidad a la imagen, que la hace más hermosa.

Stunning image of the often-overlooked reflection nebulae NGC 1977, NGC 1975, and NGC 1973 in Orion. These nebulae, located near the brighter Orion Nebula, showcase the blue reflection of interstellar dust illuminated by hot young stars. Dark regions within the nebulae create the illusion of a running man. A portion of the Orion Nebula is visible at the bottom of the image. The entire scene is approximately 1,500 light-years away.
