NGC6543 is a planetary nebula. Planetary nebula are not planets, but puffs of ionized gas blown off from a dying red giant star. The hot stellar remnant makes the gas glow.
They are called "planetary nebulae" because early astronomers thought they looked like planets.
Bluish-green oval nebula. 15 minute exposure with a 50mm f5 250mm focal length quadruplet refractor using a Sony IMX676 (CMOS; Starvis 2) 12.5 megapixel sensor and a broad band filter.
