This is my image of the Double Cluster #NGC869 and #NGC884 in Perseus, located 7460 light years away. These look great in binoculars and can be seen with the naked eye as a small smudge under dark skies #astrophotography #cluster #space #stars
Two clusters of bright stars of varying colours, there are also lots of fainter stars in the background.

Full #Moon & #astrophotography don't make a good mix, except on star clusters or emission nebulae...so here goes for the Persei double cluster (NGC884 & NGC869) and the Horse Head #nebula (IC434) in H-alpha. Images shot yesterday.

Worked until late yesterday, but the weather prediction announced clear, so I decided to set up the gear in advance so I could take some pictures while I worked. So I got the double cluster NGC869, near Cassiopeia, and Bode's galaxy. Not too bad for a harmonic cat and a 60mm small scope.

I took this photo with a 2" refractor and a 16 minute exposure.

Now the question is, what is the correct star cluster for the traditional name Capulus? Astrology King claims it should be Messier 34, but how is that verified?

(Aspectarian is certainly currently wrong in referring to Capulus as M34, while using the position of NGC869)

Aspectarian (like most astrology software) is using Swiss Ephemeris by Astrodienst for all positions and calculations.

I just checked and there is indeed something funny. The star with the traditional name Capulus in Swiss Ephemeris is referring to:

Capulus,NGC869: Tau. 24°32′

But there is ...
