This is genuinely true. I quite like living in New Jersey. I’m 45min on njtransit from Penn station NY and 45min drive from the mountains I like to hike in.
people live in new jersey not because they simply cannot afford NYC under any circumstances, but because new jersey can give them something NYC cannot ever give them. bluesky thinks those people have all been pushed out but in many of their heads they have been PULLED out, by something better.

Thats not really a good measure. Theres a lot of latent demand that isnt riding transit in part due to the fare system. Also, keep in mind more people use NJT buses than trains, and the fare system is an absolute mess.
