It looks like some well-to-do lawmakers want to keep the #NMLeg as an exclusive rich person's club and exclude working class New Mexicans who might vote to improve the lives of other working class New Mexicans.

🦓 Happy #Halloween!

🎃Here's what's scary:

🌶 #NewMexico has approximately 4800 active physicians in the entire state.
More doctors are needed to treat #raredisease patients before they move out of state for better healthcare & NM faces more loss.

🗳 Vote YES on Amendment 4!
Some New Mexico lawmakers remain divided on Constitutional Amendment 4, which asks voters to approve or deny a measure that would let state lawmakers earn a salary equivalent to the state’s median household income — currently about $68,000.

#nmleg passed the Driver Privacy and Safety Act, Senate Bill 40, barring police from sharing license plate reader data when they believe it will be used for immigration, investigating reproductive or gender-affirming care, or punishing protected speech, but...

New Mexico is the only state that doesn’t pay its legislators a salary. Next week, voters decide whether to change that, with pay tied to the state’s median household income of just under $68,000.

#nmleg passed a bill making it illegal to station troops — including armed ICE agents — at polling places

According to Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, "An ICE agent is the same as any other unauthorized individual at a polling location, and the same protocols should be followed"

We have something like this here in New Mexico...

Rep. Nicole Chavez (R-Albuqerque) is married to a lobbyist and now facing an investigation into her ties to the Project Jupiter data center through both her role at #nmleg and her husband’s work

New Mexico voters will decide if they will pay legislators, but because the amendment removes the provision they can't receive any other compensation, if passed will it all allow legislators to also hold state jobs?

Would that let Andera Reeb be in #nmleg & be also a prosecutor? 🤔
October 18, 2026 at 10:32 PM
Within hours of Rep Andrea Reeb's #nmleg resignation, Rep John Block (R-Alamogordo) said she was “one of the most talented lawmakers I’ve ever worked with”

The relationship also runs through Block’s PAC

Reeb gave it $5,000 on June 4, 2026, which is combined, 18x what every Otero County donor gave

Andrea Reeb told the Clovis newspaper despite resigning her #nmleg seat, she's unopposed on the Nov. 3 ballot & will be elected to the House

"I could take my (House) seat back Jan. 1...
I'm doing some soul searching trying to decide if I have a legal argument (for a possible court appeal)"
October 18, 2026 at 2:59 AM
#nmleg Reps like Reeb getting a state pension, violating Constitutional seperation of powers with multiple state contracts like this up to $18,000/month each, then asking voters to also give them a legislative paycheck shows you how out of touch they are 🤔

Today, AG Raúl Torrez issued a legal opinion, requested by state legislators, concluding that the state's "outfitter set-aside" violates the constitution. Thank you AG Torrez and legislators for standing up for New Mexicans. #NMpol #NMleg

I definitely understand for those who need a way to serve in nmleg. I wish the Constitutional amendment measure had guardrails because I don't trust them to police themselves

Look at the money for law enforcement & the jail. For some reason they always think that is an acceptable housing option 😡
