Admit we don't live in a world where one tactic is more revolutionary than another, if you are building a house you don't just put a bunch of hammers in your toolbox. Build the power to challenge democrats to be better or build an alternative @ashdashlee.bsky.social #NN25

get out there in whatever capacity you can and fuck them up now so we can make it to 2026 - @evansutton.bsky.social #NN25

"Let this radicalize you". Organize to build community and base build to improve material conditions, so common sense becomes the status quo, so we don't have to keep fighting. Let the faith drive the discipline to win and be done with it - @ashdashlee.bsky.social #NN25

We get data from Europe about their experiences but we have been doing this here for centuries. Ultra, Star Spangled Patriotism podcasts tell these stories. Right wing movements adapt, we have to stop retaliatory cycles. The goals: be able to govern, politicize as many ppl as possible #NN25

Target protests are worth it, Avelo boycott is easy, seeing how Harvard could not capitulate because people are saying no, every part of this matters. Let's block and build. @ashdashlee.bsky.social's dad would say "There ain't nothing to it but to do it #NN25

we have a framework of non-cooperation to fragment and divide authoritarians and help everyone else see how ridiculous it is. Every day wake up and ask what is one thing I can do to block them and sustain community. Labor Day protests are going to be huge! Pressure T-Mobile to ditch Starlink #NN25
August 8, 2025 at 7:43 PM
We need to get to scale. despite arguments about the people's march in January, it was huge. "I don't know how to be smaller than non-existant" Keeping the movement alive is a win, no matter how small the action because it helps build to scale #NN25

you also need plans and positioned to be able to operationalize and keep everyone together. The Tesla boycott was the easiest thing ever and then it worked! People criticized No Kings as 'just liberals protesting' but it worked in starting conversations with a lot of people. #NN25

we need all of us to stop authoritarianism in a very big tent with one thing in common, you might work with people you very much do not agree with on other things. be right and lose or be accountable and flexible and disciplined and having enough power to not be scapegoated or written off #NN25

neither side really includes us, there is a secret third thing that includes us. in the birth and death of a thing we have an opportunity to put forth a vision. there will be contradictions of organizing. people are (finally) talking about abolishing ICE, now you believe us #NN25
August 8, 2025 at 7:34 PM
death and birth are messy, project 2025 is saying we don't like this kind of government so we are going to destroy it. yes, the American dream is some bullshit and we can't go back to what we had before. why wouldn't we come together to put forward an alternative? @ashdashlee.bsky.social at #NN25

How to counter negativity? Zohran's long walk was key - "he really is the people's princess," everyone was so excited to see him. we can't control the news cycle but can control what you do every day in your community #NN25

will influencers listen to nerdy content? you can make anybody interesting, it's all about the approach and authenticity. you can translate complex policy bc at the end of the day politics impacts us all, get to the root of what is the impact of policy on audience you are trying to engage #NN25

The massive group project between the online game and the offline game built energy and the ability to communicate the importance of engaging with local politics. This campaign is a roadmap that can be replicated in the future #NN25

HGFZ lesson: Anybody can be an organizer! Call for volunteers got 100+ signups so they said 'I guess we have to be organizers now'. So many people have unique skillsets applicable for organizing and there are a lot of resources you can tap into and other people you can learn from. #NN25

Organically trolling social media was super effective, they saw people w/smaller follower counts who they hadn't engaged with. Don't be afraid to empower people to take your message and run with it #NN25

DREAM was the ultimate hater campaign - meeting people where they're at here is key because "people have real hater energy" and when you tap into it they are going to want to be engaged. Had to remind how shitty Cuomo and funders are leads to "oh yeah fuck that guy" #NN25

Speaking to your audience with respect and clarity works. You don't have to deceive or dumb it down, and the message will reach people which is a great beacon of hope. On a granular level, people are open-minded about content. You can use familiar concepts and tweak formulas that work #NN25

Zohran lookalike contest was fun and viral but also a voter registration opportunity. You don't need a hot candidate to do a lookalike contest (although it helps!) #NN25

Ranked choice voting was new but New Yorkers understood the assignment! Creative content demonstrating RCV by ranking eg albums decreased angry comments "I'm only voting for Z" Even if you don't have RCV, if you have a nerdy ballot referendum or policy to explain these are helpful lessons #NN25
