I feel like nsmb2 specifically is the game that really proves mario needs new things. Its a game of entirely old ideas and generally regarded as the worst of the bunch because of it.

NSMB2 is like fascinating because it’s structurally sound and well designed but I don’t think it has a single new idea of any note whatsoever, maybe truly the most iterative Mario game made?

Saying that Paper Jam is better than Brothership is so funny, it’s like saying that NSMB2 is better than Odyssey. Sure, neither NSMB2 nor Paper Jam are inherently bad games gameplay-wise but they are just so bland and boring.
