I have an autistic interest in dinosaurs. And I get it, most NTs are uninterested so if I start speaking about them, people complain because I talk too much. But then, somehow, 3 NTs get together, spend 3 full hours talking about soccer non stop and that's fine.

3. I find it helpful to see Small Talk as a way to reassure a very anxious person that I'm not rejecting their companionship.
This is also why some NTs get really offended when you don't want to discuss the weather or sports results: they see it as a rejection of them rather than the topic.
