I guess it’s inevitable for me to buy Riva 128, or nv3, the first general purpose PC video card from nVidia, as nv1 is impossible to get atm.

It's funny that NV2 is often easier to get than NV1 since the need for the latter comes from over classification of routine tasks etc and the jobs that need the former are urgent so they give out waivers right after application so people can work

The way Sega and Nvidia are pushing that they're historically linked at the hip because of Virtua Fighter is some real good shitty partnership stuff, as if the NV1 was super important to Sega in any way. As if the 90s Sega PC push wasn't an emergency "SoA can't market the Saturn" concept.

The card was often bundled with NASCAR Racing by Papyrus, and in Japan bundled with Daytona USA. The first boxed release of Daytona USA for Windows (in Japan) also featured native support for the NVIDIA NV1 chip. #simracing #retrogaming #sega
NVIDIA's awful NV1 chip onboard the Diamond 3D Edge. The card featured 2MB of onboard memory, 2MB on an additional card. One of the coolest parts are the two headers for another card featuring two SEGA Saturn controller ports that could run Windows versions of certain titles. #nvidia #retrotech

Not only was it the main inspiration for Quake to go fully 3D, Nvidia's very first 3D graphics chip, the NV-1, was designed almost specifically to play Virtua Fighter on Windows 95. They were even developing a successor chip that was to power the Dreamcast before the deal fell through.
