Where did I find my latest #NZThesisProject match? While adding #BlueskyHandles to #Wikidata items, of course! After a PhD from Uni of Western Australia, Malindi Gammon is back in NZ where she earlier completed MSc at #VUW @thneed.bsky.social @wikimediaaotearoa.bsky.social @malindijane.bsky.social

Great to see this, congratulations to you both. This has been a good project for my detective skills and a fun collaboration. Your paper may be published, but the work is ongoing! #NZThesisProject @wmau.bsky.social
Delighted to announce that my long-awaited paper on the NZ Thesis Project is published (& is open access)! Deborah and I worked hard to write this because we would love for all academic libraries to link their data to Wikidata - this tells you why and how

Oh good idea! @anniereynolds.bsky.social is doing an amazing job on matching #NZThesisProject advisors at the moment, and when the latest batch is done I'll upgrade my OpenRefine and install the extension again (and have my fingers firmly crossed nothing gets stuffed up this time!)

Well I scrolled down and saw that you were talking about adding main subject statements to journal articles on Wikidata, and using Scholia, so I think you're in! I've added v rich metadata on subjects for theses in the NZThesisProject, but am still unsure how much/where that gets reused by others.

Now that would be amazing! So much easier to use as references on Wikipedia once they’re in Wikidata. And think of the overlap of authors with #NZThesisProject!

Many NZ researchers wouldn't exist in Wikidata or Wikipedia without Tamsin's work. She's done it largely as a volunteer and outside academia, but this is the sort of project academic libraries should have permanent full-time staff devoted to. Hopefully some will get the message now.
