Neither. Launch loops are probably better in either case, and in all likelihood the only option for Earth since AFAIK even with nanomagic the tether cannot be made strong enough to build an Earth elevator. Plus the Martian moons are a hazard, but I had an idea to get around that (bifurcated tether)

But I think it's more fundamental: Tron is something that can only really exist as an artifact of the early 80s. You could still do "magic computer" in the early 80s. Tron, the Explorers, Weird Science. You can do "AI god" or "nanomagic" now, but they are not the same thing. Tron doesn't belong now.
