(As a side note, Itō Keiichi's *Kōga o watatte* 黄河を渡って [Crossing the Yellow River] [Kōjinsha, 2002] features a snapshot of the fighting based on the testimony of a Japanese veteran, Corporal Saitō Naojirō, who broadly corroborates the Chinese sources in painting the operation as a Japanese fiasco.)

The discovery of this kind of Japanese art was one of my favourite parts of my trip to Japan. This is an example of Yōga, (usually) thematically japanese subjects using Western artistic techniques and aesthetic conventions art.
