I’ve actually sailed up the Pacific routes as well as the Caribbean. Most US cocaine comes up the Pacific. It’s smuggled to Europe through container ships passing through the Panama Canal or directly from the Caribbean. Apologies for a link to the bad place, but there’s a map of smuggling routes:

Cartel leadership are billionaires with a b who easily spend a few mill on a one use narcosub because the cargo is worth 300 times that. Gonna assume the people on these open small range boats were not carrying $500 million worth of fentanyl headed to the US, but that still isn’t a death sentence.
