#Narratives
While you're waiting...it's never too early to start challenging emerging narratives downgrading a Dem win.
I also challenge this idea that if Dems win big, it'll be less a "blue wave" than just Republicans staying home. I note that D candidates are winning indys/driving voter enthusiasm (@gelliottmorris.com good on this too).

Charlie Cook engages on this at some length:

Jake Broe is not kidding. The bot farms were key to spreading maga propaganda. And russian narratives.
Ukraine took out Russia’s bot farms a month ago and now MAGA gets wiped out… Anyone in the new Congress want to resume aid to help finish off Russia?

It's bad, buying into these narratives they feed you.
This has been happening for decades, in the media. Bush won by 500 votes in Florida: mandate. He won by one state -- Ohio -- in 2004 and he *himself* called it a "mandate." Obama blowout in 2008: somehow not a mandate, "rebuked" by D midterm losses in 2010. Trump squeaking by? Mandate.
There's a difference between a blowout and a mandate. Confusing the two could tempt Democrats to overread the results and forget the serious credibility problem they still face heading into 2028.

Among our pundit betters there is an almost biological aversion to fundamentals that makes them chase narratives

AES outperformed Kamala amongst black voters in Michigan. Really drives home how bullshit the narratives were against him

This is a hill I will die on. The left needs to get SO much more disciplined about not engaging with opponents’ narratives. Ignore, block, and get back to your message.

Kyiv Independent analysis of 140,000 posts, found AfD, SPD, Babiš and Nawrocki amplifying anti-Ukrainian narratives as attacks on refugees and civilians rise, while GRU-linked Storm-1516 fakes target France's pro-Ukraine candidates.
Russian influence operations and Trump-backed far-right parties push the same anti-Ukrainian narratives as attacks on refugees rise and France's pro-Ukraine candidates are smeared

Media literacy isn't something you have, it's something you do. They are not "miaunderstanding" media, they are weaponizing it to advance and fabricate their narratives.

So much for all the "Jews will finally go Republican" narratives.

The biggest danger of guys like him and Zohran is they will govern well and destroy the bigot narratives

If Russia hadn’t occupied Oleshky and tortured its residents, there wouldn’t be any need for a ceasefire or evacuations.

An aggressor remains an aggressor, regardless of propaganda narratives.

It’s easy to think there’s a big voting conspiracy at play on Election Day. But many problems you might see often have simple explanations. Don't let the social media narratives come before the facts.

Decolonialism is when the predominant narratives of the Western academy go unchallenged and privilege is when a non-Western trans woman dares to question the prevailing orthodoxy

I expect much of the online cognitive influence narratives to shift from outward trolling of others to self-protection (e.g., gaslighting, projection, undermining accountability agents) by January.

Ukraine’s SBU and Prosecutor General’s Office have notified Yulia Mendel in absentia of suspicion of treason and justifying Russia’s invasion. Investigators allege her public statements and social media posts promoted Kremlin narratives. She remains abroad. #Ukraine

If you’re being swept up in narratives of

✔️“the first Black woman governor”

✔️“the first openly gay man in the Senate”

✔️“the first Black speaker of the House,”

may I recommend this book

This is why i genuinely like Ed Miliband coming out all guns blazing and saying "saying sorry doesn't automatically mean reparations"

sometimes you just need to smash bad narratives with a hammer.

i think you should actually wait for the election to be over before deciding on these narratives
In both Montana and Alaska, Democrats completely misread the national political environment and decided (wrongly!) that their only chance to win was to mislead voters. Both efforts blew up in their faces. Compare that to what is going on in South Carolina and Kansas.

Jake Tapper is obsessed with making tonight about how Dems messed up bc they didn't invest enough in <checks notes> Mississippi.

David Axelrod is obsessed with making tonight about how Dems can't go hard on accountability bc it will backfire.

The Narratives™️ cannot fail. they can only be failed.

Also the Times:

That is a sentence I didn’t think I’d type today.

You can just arrest him! You can make his capital gains taxable! You can deny him his narratives of AI Sex Robots On Mars by simple regulation! He’s a creature of uttermost modernity, and that makes him vulnerable.
