Walking #NativeIrisTrail in #Eugene last Saturday, watched a pair of Acorn #Woodpeckers work this snag and fend off an invading squirrel. Learned the bulbs of these purple flowers are called #Ookow and were food eaten by the Maidu and Nisenan American Native cultures.
