Native endangered orchid- Small white ladies slipper. Like a little ballerina shoe. This wild specimen was out on the prairie by a trout stream. I'm so happy with how this turned out- was not expecting to find these guys!

Image: a delicate stalk that appears a purplish grey color, it has tiny little light purple flowers off the stalk that look like they have light green pestles. Behind it is the forrest floor with decaying leaves and little virgina creepers popping up. It is a Crane Fly Orchid Image: same orchid, but from a vit further away, it looks more purple from this angle. Mostly a tall stalk with a bunch off teeny time delicate purplish flowers.

Striped coralroot (Corallorhiza striata), a native orchid, is still in bloom at Rene Brunelle Provincial Park. I read that it obtains its nutrients from soil fungi (share.google/lhTs2sjlDDbH...). Photo composed in a very buggy Rene Brunelle Provincial Park, June 20/25.

The small white ladies slipper orchid. Native to Wisconsin, and listed as imperiled conservation status. This patch of orchids was near a trout stream out on the prairie. Please get out there and love on the wild areas. They need you. Also use Inaturalist, an app that identifies species for you and helps researchers keep an eye on native/invasive populations.
