I suppose the 'modern-day' equivalent is being called a 'nimby' & yet I politely suggest that if more looked after their own backyards then chances are there would be better communities & places to live as well as quality wildlife habitats nearby for #NaturalHealthService #AccessToNature

Very mammal-y few days, #Gower. #Fox snoozing in the sun in the field opposite, a #Vole (probably bank)peering at me from its hole in the garden & exuberant hunting by several common #Pipistrelles in the evening. Sorry no pix #naturalhealthservice @Mammal_Society @PTES @SEWBReC

Don't know whether she can count, but there were 13 ducklings at the start of the day, and 13 at the end.

Gradually the ducklings got into the swing of preening after a swim.

Seems a quite extraordinary miracle that only a few hours earlier, these perfect, fully functioning little beings were still curled, wet inside their eggs.

After the excitement of the ducklings' first swim, a nap on the lawn in the sun is important for them and their mum.

The Mother Duck seemed proud to show off her brood to us.

A privilege to watch the ducklings take their first swim.

Like ducks to water, they instantly got the hang of it...

Just seen this pair of fresh Holly Blues (Celastrina argiolus) in the back garden this morning, during a brief burst of sunshine. I've been waiting patiently for days for my first sighting, then two turn up together!
