The Scarlet Caterpillar Fungus in my garden has changed!

A parasitic fungus that’s now even creepier… emerges from the dead, underground pupae of moths, nicknamed "Zombie Fungus". It slowly consumes its insect host!🧡😱

🌱 As June ends, fireflies glow brightly across the USA, historically symbolizing guidance, hope, and wonder.

Help protect these little backyard lights by keeping yards dark, limiting pesticide use on lawns, and let them sustain their magic for future generations! ✨

In late summer & fall, red squirrels make fungi jerky.

They stash mushrooms on conifer tree branches to dry, then store in caches.

It reduces likelihood of rot and diversifies their food sources over the long winter months.

I ❤️ being back in the Rockies and seeing this again.
