Photo. A phone case decorated to resemble the magic book from the Evil Dead series of films and television. The book appears to have a dried twisted set of empty facial features. It is brown in colour. Very textured.

A project born from my own refusal to buy a new phone case for my aging mobile.

Photo. Using the previously applied sharpie lines as a guide, A three dimensional texture has been added using paper and glue. Photo. A rough outline of a design has been applied to the phone case in black sharpie pen. The chosen design is the necronomicon from the Evil Dead film series. Photo. Old covering material has been removed from the phone case. Old bits of stickers now show. Legible is one from the Scottish Amiga Users Group. Photo. Scraggly old phone case. Covering material, from a previous re-covering, is torn and coming off.

Necronomicon Ex Telephonum - internal Art by Fluffgar 2026
Some original art I made as I felt the inside of the phone case needed some love.

Photo. Shown is a piece of original art by Fluffgar (AKA MJ Walsh). At the top a reproduction of symbols found on the pages of the Naturom Demonto (Necronomicon Ex Mortis) from the Evil Dead series. Beneath it the penned in words "Klaatu barada nikto." Below that a skull-like being with a crazed, purple-irised, eye, and a strange plant growing from between its teeth (the lower part of which ends in a clawed paw). All on aged-looking paper. Photo. Aged-looking paper applied to the internal side of the phone case. Photo. Aged-looking paper being carefully torn into shape. A bowl of black tea and some tongs are visible in the background.

Photo. The painted phone case sits, paint now dry, awaiting further work. Photo. The phone case is sat drying in the sun after receiving its full coats of initial colour. The raking light from the sun dramatically highlighting the textural decoration. The Necronomicon Ex Mortis is coming to life. Photo. The phone case in the process of being decorated is shown open so that it can be seen to have the decoration continued around the back. Photo. Old phone case has had texture applied to it using glue and paper. Shown here is it after its first coat of paint. Mottled browns.

Photo. A phone case decorated in the style of the book found in The Evil Dead series of films and television. This stage shows the base paint complete over a texture layer that gives it three dimensionality. It has been completed and varnished. Front outer case shown. Photo. A phone case in the process of being decorated in the style of the book found in The Evil Dead series of films and television. This stage shows the base paint complete over a texture layer that gives it three dimensionality. Further definition has been given to the darker areas by using a small brush to push the paint along edges. Photo.
