Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), a former Marine, sharply criticized President Donald Trump and the Pentagon for downplaying the severe conditions faced by sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln during a prolonged deployment in the Middle East. Moulton accused Trump of prioritizing his golf game over the welfare of service members, calling the president 'more worried about his golf game this weekend.' The USS Lincoln has been at sea for over 240 days, with reports of low supplies, mental anguish, and even attempts by sailors to go overboard. Moulton argued that the administration's dismissal of these issues reflects a lack of understanding of the war's impact. Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao claimed the deployment was extended due to mission demands and assured that sailors have adequate resources, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth labeled concerns as 'completely misrepresented.' Moulton, however, condemned the chain of command for failing to address the crisis, emphasizing that Trump and Hegseth are out of touch with the realities faced by troops. The article highlights the growing tension between military leadership and lawmakers over the treatment of service members in extended deployments.
