An Embodiment of Souls by Julia Laurel.
Crudley, Gideon meets Polk's Kingston Cycle. Interesting queernorm necromancy world, with a lot done well & a nice mystery plot. I did want a bit more oomf to some character & worldbuilding elements, but an incredibly promising signal of a strong new author.

Update: Coco tomorrow. Tonight, gonna wrap up with Night In The Woods & necromantasy audiobooks. Excellent day, all things considered. Trick or Treating with my niblings (a Disney character & generic dinosaur) makes Halloween my favorite day of the year. I dressed as Joey Ramone aka Aunt Ramona 🎃🖤💀
